About Shelter Movers:
Shelter Movers provides moving and storage services at no cost to women and children fleeing abuse. We are the only organization of our kind in Canada, and our volunteers are no less exceptional. Every year, in collaboration with community partners, our volunteer teams contribute over 15,000 hours to support people transitioning to lives free of violence and abuse. Our Ottawa chapter has been operational since 2017 and has completed over 600 moves since opening. We are growing and looking to add caring and compassionate people to our volunteer team.

Position Summary:
We are looking for a Senior Graphic Designer to create and manage digital designs for our marketing needs. The Senior Graphic Designer’s responsibilities include managing graphic design tasks, refining projects and drafts and generating new creative ideas. We are looking for someone who specializes in Motion Graphic Design and Infographics. To be a successful candidate for this volunteer opportunity you should be a champion of Gender Based Violence Issues as well as have extensive knowledge of graphic design styles and techniques. You should also have experience in implementing marketing campaigns. Ultimately the Senior Graphic Designer will promote the mission and values of Shelter Movers Ottawa though high-quality graphic content.

Responsibilities:
Designing motion graphics, and infographics
Manage graphic designs from conception to delivery
Review junior designer drafts to ensure quality
Create simple animations for social media, gifs, for improved visual storytelling and data visualization
Generate new, creative concepts
Ensure brand consistency throughout various marketing projects
Directly report to Marketing and Communications Manager
Keep up to date with industry developments.

Requirements:
A passion for Gender Based Violence issues
An intersectional and anti-oppression standpoint
A portfolio with design projects, ideal candidates will have motion graphics in their portfolio
A keen eye for visual details
Ability to meet deadlines and work as part of a team
Assets:
A Graphic Design qualification or similar
Familiar with good rendering processes
Proven work experience in graphic design
Work experience with Canva, Trello, Adobe Creative Suite and/or Affinity

Time Commitment:
We are looking for a long term commitment. An estimated 3 to 6 hours a week, dependent on responsibilities and proximity to larger campaigns

Shelter Movers volunteers must be at least 18 years of age, complete an interview process, attend an orientation for new volunteers, in addition to signing a confidentiality agreement and obtaining a criminal record check.
