Description

Ontario Connecting Students is a not for profit organization designed to connect Ontario public school families with Ontario post secondary student volunteer tutors. Tutoring sessions are conducted in a virtual capacity allowing volunteers the opportunity to participate in community building from the safety of their homes.

We are looking for patient, dedicated, empathetic and personable individuals who possess excellent organization and communication skills.

Residents of Ontario who have graduated high school who possess or are presently obtaining a post-secondary degree are eligible for this opportunity. The time commitment can be as little as two hours per week. Ontario Connecting Students accommodates the busy student lifestyle while helping volunteers obtain skills that are transferable to future opportunities as well as gain demonstrated experience.

Clear vulnerable sector checks and a minimum of two (2) character references are required for this position, at least one of which must be a professional capacity.

We require all accepted applicants to undergo a virtual training workshop to ensure adherence to our conduct guidelines. Our training also assists tutors in their ongoing effort to engage participants with their schoolwork and gain understanding of how to foster positive associations with learning.

We have an urgent need for Bilingual volunteers who speak French and English, as well as those who are comfortable tutoring in math and science.
