Volunteer Opportunities

The Certified Yoga Instructor will work to improve resident health/well-being through physical activity and the practice of gentle yoga and meditation. The Yoga Instructor will liaise with staff to set-up spaces and equipment. Have new participants complete necessary consent or other form(s) relevant to known health concerns and/or disclose possible limitations to their participation. Invite all participants to adjust their participation should they have a (historic/recent) injury. (Note that participants are responsible for their own safety during all facilitated activities, but the facilitator has a duty to identify general safety guidelines to participants.) Facilitate yoga class according to guidelines established in your certification/training. Work one on one with residents requiring additional assistance or accommodation. Experience working with vulnerable populations; some knowledge of impact of trauma, mental health issues, and addictions on residents, particularly in relation to the ways that these can be physically manifested.
