Meals on Wheels is a volunteer-based support service that delivers nutritious meals to individuals to assist them in maintaining their health and independence at home. The meals are delivered by trained volunteers who provide a personal contact, a safety and security check as well as an interested daily visitor.

La Popote roulante est un service de soutien bénévole qui organise la distribution de repas nutritifs a des bénéficiaires pour les aider à maintenir leur sante et leur indépendance a domicile. Les repas sont livres par des bénévoles qualifies qui offrent un réconfort personnel, une mesure de sécurité et un visiteur journalier dévoue.

Volunteer Opportunities

Do you have your own vehicle and 2 hours to help on Tuesdays over the lunch hour in the Centertown area?
Delivering meals is a simple and rewarding way to help seniors and adults with disabilities in need of a weekly delivery of frozen food and a friendly face.
Frozen routes are delivered between 12 noon and 2 pm on Tuesdays. Pick up of routes is at our office at 670 Albert Street (in the Good Companions Building)

Please note that if you are under 18 years of age you must be accompanied by a parent or guardian on delivery routes.

The Volunteer in this position will review the delivery sheets and ensure the proper count and note any special meals for all clients on four routes.
The volunteer will transport the meals for these routes from The Good Companions Centre to the Olde Forge Community Resource Center for pick up by delivery teams.
Volunteers in this position will require their own vehicle large enough to transport the bags holding the meals for four routes. (minivan, SUV or wagon).
The depot coordinator will greet the delivery teams and assist them to load the bags into their vehicles.
In the event that a route is not picked up, the Volunteer Depot Coordinator should be prepared to deliver meals to the clients.
After all routes have left the depot, the coordinator will return the previous day s delivery bags to the Good Companions Centre.
Other duties as required.

Interested applicants who do not have a large enough vehicle may be able to use the agency vehicle.

This team of volunteers also provides a personal contact, a safety and security check as well as an interested daily visitor. There are pickup location across Ottawa so volunteers can be matched to an area where they would like to deliver.

Frozen routes are delivered between 9-11 am on Fridays. Pick up of routes is at our office at 670 Albert Street (in the Good Companions Building) .

Volunteer Drivers deliver nutritious meals to individuals to assist them in maintaining their health and independence at home. This team of volunteers also provides a personal contact, a safety and security check as well as an interested daily visitor. Volunteer drivers can do deliveries on their own or can be paired up with volunteer servers.
There are pickup locations across Ottawa so volunteers can be matched to an area where they would like to deliver.
