Volunteer Opportunities

Our classical music program takes place every Monday from 1-3 pm. Patients have the opportunity to temporarily escape as you take them through a musical journey of YouTube videos talking about musical pieces, and bring into context key elements you wish to discuss such as history, the author, instruments etc. As a leader of the program, you would be responsible for downloading musical content on our tablet, planning your weekly session, portering patients etc.
This is suited for someone who shares a passion for music, notably classical. It is also great for someone who is energetic, independent and reliable and who can take on initiative.

We need your help to talk to our patients about their opinions of our care and services. We are looking for volunteers who enjoy talking to patients and who are interested in reading survey questions to them and writing down their answers. We will train you so you will feel comfortable doing this (in about 45 minutes). Our surveys are done in all our programs so we need people who are available at different times of the year, during the day and evenings, and at our three locations (Bruyère Hospital, St.Vincent Hospital and Saint Louis Residence).

Bruyère Continuing Care is partnering with other senior care partners in Ontario and with a Norwegian Industry partner, Motitech AS to study the added value of a motivational healthcare solution called Motiview that may encourage participation in cycling activity for individuals in Long Term Care settings. Some of our residents spend most of their time inactive, have a low mood and have dementia. Research shows that increasing physical activity for these individuals may provide an enjoyable and fulfilling activity, improve mobility, mood, and sleep and reduce fall risks!

To learn more about Motiview, or to see some of the beautiful cycling routes the residents can take, click on the links below:
