The Alive to Strive Kidney Fitness Project is a non profit organization committed to education, prevention and public awareness on the issue of chronic kidney disease as well as operating a fitness grant program benefiting those living with chronic kidney disease.

Volunteer Opportunities

The Race Committee for the Alive to Strive Race (held on April 28, 2019) needs a volunteer writer to write blogs, articles, web content, social media posts in both French and English to promote the event and kidney health.
Writing samples required.

The Alive to Strive Race relies on more than 100 volunteers in order to hold the event on April 28, 2019. Various positions are available, including:
Security/Parking:Ensure participants remain in designated crossing areas, as well as directing volunteers and participants to the parking lot at either the Terry Fox Athletic Facility or Hog’s Back Park. Shifts are 7:30am – 11:30am, or 9am – 1pm

Barricades: Set-Up and Tear-Down of the barricades blocking major intersections. Making sure that no car is permitted to drive on the course. This is very important for runner’s safety, it is our main priority. Barricade is one of the most important volunteer position to make sure a race goes smoothly. Shifts can be up to 5 hours, 8am – 1pm

Event Area: Floaters, Runner’s security at the event area, put up tents, take down, Start/Finish Line. Shifts are from 8am – 12pm, or 9am – 1pm

Registration Area: This volunteer opportunity involves 1 of the following 5 tasks: Registration, Race Kit Pick-up, Information Desk, Bag Check/Lost and Found, Selling T-Shirts. Shifts are from 7:30am – 11:30am, or 9am – 1pm

Catering/Clean up: Serving the meal to participants after their race.
Helping keeping the food area clean as well as making sure participants stay in designated area to eat. Shifts are from 9:30am – 1:30pm

Race Kit Pick Up (Friday, April 26th and Saturday, April 27th) Giving out race kits and race bibs to participants. Friday: 3:30pm – 7:30pm (Running Room on Bank St.) / Saturday: 9:30am – 11:30am (Terry Fox Athletic Facility)

Event Set up (Saturday, April 28th 10am – 2pm): This opportunity takes place on the day before the event. Volunteers will help organize and set-up the event area. Shifts are from 11am – 3pm
