In a day and age when computer and smart phone technology use is pervasive, your Non-Profit Organization’s presence online is essential. In fact, many would say that if you can’t Google it, it doesn’t exist. So why not take advantage of WordPress, a free content management system that allows you to build and manage your own website or blog.
WordPress can be downloaded for free. This means that organizations both big and small can access it without breaking their budget.
You don’t have to be a coding expert to create web content using WordPress. If you want to customize anything, you can do it by accessing tabs such as “Themes”, where you can format the style of your website.
Now that you are convinced that WordPress is the platform for your organization’s website, here are some key steps to getting your website started.
A domain is your web address, while a host is the service that connects your page to the internet. You will want to budget a few dollars per month in order to buy your domain name and pay for hosting.
Now that you have a domain name and a host, access WordPress using your host service and begin installation.
With WordPress installed, you can now insert content, create tabs on your page, choose a theme for your content, etc.
With a basic content and layout in place, you may decide you increase the complexity of your site — adding special features to it. Plugins are an excellent way of doing so without having to learn computer code.
